Clear Vision. Uninterrupted Data.
Active Optical Clearing for Continuous Machine Vision
ORBINIQ™ develops compact, high-speed rotating optical systems designed to maintain a clear optical path for cameras and vision sensors exposed to water, spray and environmental contamination.By actively removing contaminants from the optical surface during operation, ORBINIQ™ supports continuous image acquisition and reliable visual data in demanding environments.

Performance Starts with a Clear Optical Path.
THE CHALLENGE
When Optical Clarity Degrades, Image and Data Quality Follow.Cameras are increasingly deployed in exposed environments across broadcast and cinema, security, marine operations, robotics, autonomous systems, agriculture and industrial applications. Whether the objective is a clean image, continuous recording or reliable visual data, performance begins with a clear optical path.Rain, water spray, mud, dust, snow, frost and other contaminants can cause scattering, refraction, attenuation, local occlusion and contrast loss before light reaches the camera sensor.

Research shows that the impact can be substantial. Water-droplet contamination has produced up to 80% degradation in MTF50 (a measure of how well an optical system preserves fine detail and contrast) under tested conditions. In machine-vision applications, severe contamination has also resulted in object-detection performance losses of up to 90%.

Cleaning Is Not the Same as Staying Clear.
Hydrophobic coatings can reduce water adhesion, but they do not eliminate optical distortion from remaining droplets. Wipers and washer systems can remove contamination, but introduce moving components across the field of view and can temporarily obstruct image capture. Software processing can improve degraded images, but cannot fully recover visual information that was never captured clearly. For broadcast, cinema and security, this can mean lost or unusable footage and interrupted visibility. For machine vision and autonomous systems, it can mean degraded input data and reduced perception reliability.

The Challenge Is More Than Optical.
The engineering challenge is not simply how to clean an optical surface, but how to keep it clear continuously, reliably and in real time without interrupting image acquisition.A practical solution must also work within the constraints of the host system. It needs to be compact, lightweight, mechanically robust, energy-efficient and cost-effective, while remaining adaptable to different optical dimensions, camera architectures and operating environments.
A New Approach to Continuous Optical Clearing
THE TECHNOLOGY
ORBINIQ™ uses a high-speed rotating optical surface positioned in front of the camera or sensor. Rotation generates centrifugal force, continuously driving water and contaminants outward while maintaining an unobstructed optical path.

Unlike conventional rotating-window systems built around a central shaft or bulky mechanical drive, ORBINIQ™ integrates the motor directly around the optical aperture. The rotor itself carries the optical element, creating a compact, low-profile direct-drive architecture with no central obstruction.

Direct-Drive Architecture
A ring-shaped axial-flux motor generates rotation directly around the optical aperture, reducing the need for conventional shafts, gears or external drive mechanisms.Continuous Optical Clearing
The optical surface remains in high-speed rotation during operation, continuously rejecting incoming water and contaminants rather than waiting for a cleaning cycle.Unobstructed Optical Path
The central optical area remains free from shafts or drive components, allowing the camera to capture through a clear, open aperture.Compact by Design
Integrating the motor around the optical surface minimizes axial depth and enables a lightweight architecture suitable for space and weight constrained camera systems.Surface Engineering
Hydrophobic optical coatings work together with rotational forces to reduce liquid adhesion and accelerate contaminant removal.Adaptable Architecture
Optical diameter, rotational speed, mounting interface, housing, power and control can be engineered around different cameras, sensors and operating environments.
One Technology. Multiple Environments.
CLEARITY ACROSS INDUSTRIES
ORBINIQ™ technology is designed for exposed camera and vision systems where contamination can compromise image quality, visual continuity or data reliability. The architecture can be adapted to different platforms, optical dimensions and operating conditions.
